Kaolla Su, often called simply "Su-chan" by her friends, is the ultimate in uber-genkiness! It seems she's on a permanent sugar-high because her source of energy is seemingly never at an end. Of all the Hinata Inn residents it's Su who provides the most humor with her wacky antics and generally cute nature. Su would love to be a friend to all if all would accept her as their friend.
Su stands out from the others appearance-wise. While most of the girls have fair complexions Su's skin colour is darker and tanned looking. She also sports a red dot on her forehead, probably signifying something about her culture, religion, or the such. Su is also very lithe and can be found running on rooftops, swinging on rooftops, clambering on people's shoulders, and so on. Although she looks like your average litle girl Su's pretty strong. She can pack a mean punch and kick, but those are saved for Keitaro and potential perverts, so you should be pretty safe!
Who's a mechanical genius?! Su is! The kid can make anything from nothing and can fix anything with nothing. When everyone was low on cash and needed to chip in for the Inn, Su ended up getting a job at Toudai running and fixing the computer networks, consuming bananas all the time of course! And who was the one who fixed Moe-chan? It was Su of course! The inventions she makes for fun range from rather cute to slightly disturbing. You have to wonder what goes on inside her head for her to invent such sporadically strange stuff.
Although charming and friendly, it seems that Su-chan doesn't have many friends at school. Her only comrades at school are Shinobu and Taichi. Despite this, she has somehow managed to memorize the names and student numbers of all her schoolmates @_@. Makes you wonder what grades she manages in school with such a memory and ingenious imagination. I'm not exactly sure why Su doesn't have that many friends since she's a very likable, open, and fun-loving person, but she seems happy enough with the friends she has!
It may seem that Su acts with the mentality of a three year-old, but she can really be quite serious when she needs to get down to business. For example, when everyone at the Hinata Inn was busy preparing for finals or finishing off some homework Su, in the true Su fashion, was doing her best to have fun and upset the peace and quiet! When they had a quick meeting about her behavior Shinobu questioned whether Su intended to take the finals for university. Su responded quite readily that she intended to get in my recommendation and she would someday return to her country and build a technological empire that would surpass even Japan's! Everyone was pretty stunned that she had thought it through so much. She may look like she's all fun and games, but she's quite the thinker deep inside.
Unlike the other residents of Hinata Inn, Su-chan does not originate from Japan. In fact, we're not exactly sure
where Su-chan is from since she only refers to her country as "my country". Her appearance suggests she might be from India, but it's stated in the anime that she's not from India. You can read more about hints of her ethnic background in the

Why would Su run away from her country to Hinata Inn? Well here's the long version of the story: Su and her sister Amalla were the daughters of the emperor of their country. However, when he passed away their uncle became the emperor and he adopted them and they became a part of his family. His son, Ranba Ru, became their adopted brother and all three children grew up knowing that Ranba was not their real sibling. However, since Ranba was to succeed the throne he needed a wife and he chose Su to be his wife. Growing up, Ranba constantly told Su to grow up faster and that she would be beautiful when she was grown up. This caused her to have an age-complex because she wanted to stay a kid and enjoy her childhood, but she also wanted to grow up for him because she loved him so much.
But in the end she didn't want to marry him, at least not yet. So she ran away from her problems and responsibilities so she could live a happy and normal life. There were probably attempts to bring her back to her country, and Ranba even said once that he had sent for her many times but couldn't get her to return. So they let Su be and left her to live in Japan. However, this didn't seem to solve Su's problems because she suffered from loneliness and still struggled to decided whether she wanted to be a child or adult. As a result of this, when she saw the red moon she transformed into Adult Su and chased after Keitaro, who bears a resemblance to Ranba. The constant transformations were straining on her body though, so Amalla dropped by and managed to snap her out of it.
As I stated before, Su may seem to be a simple character who's main goal in life is to be "genki", create havoc, and have fun, she's actually more complex than that. She's a well-rounded character that many will enjoy watching ^^.
