Family
Although we know nothing about Su's mother, we do know her father was the emperor of her country before he died. She has one sister related to her by blood, and an adopted older brother as well! They're not quite one big happy family... but they're not completely dysfunctional either. (To make this less confusing, I will refer to Su by her first name "Kaolla" since she and her sister obviously share the same last name ^.^;;)
Amalla Su - Kaolla's only blood relation that's alive, or so we assume. Amalla is the elder of the Su sisters and cares about her little sister a great deal. Although her relationship with Su doesn't seem to be all that close Amalla only wants best for Kaolla. Even the Kaolla ran away from her country, her family, and her duty, Amalla went to help her younger sister when she thought Kaolla was in need of help. She knew she probably shouldn't have been there, but she didn't want Kaolla to wear herself out with her transformations. She also pressured Kaolla into marrying Ranba because she thought it would make both Kaolla and Ranba happy. It didn't matter to her that she was in love with Ranba herself. Kaolla noticed though, even if Ranba didn't, and therefore ran away from the marriage not only because she wasn't ready, but also because she knew her sister wanted it much more than her. So even though they might not be terribly close, they still care about each other a great deal.
Ranba Ru - Ranba is the adopted brother of Kaolla and Amalla. When the Su sisters' father died his father became the emperor of the country and brought them into his family. Kaolla basically grew up knowing and loving Ranba as her older brother, so she was distressed when Ranba chose her to be his marriage partner. He constantly told Kaolla to grow up faster and so he caused Kaolla to have a bit of an age complex. Although he comes across as very wise, mature, and kind, he also seems to be a little dense and tends to put duty before feelings. Because of this it seems as if he doesn't really care about Kaolla's opinion on the marriage matter, but he tried very hard to understand why she reacted to it the way she did.
