Why Su?
When I first started watching
Love Hina, I almost did it backwards. Instead of starting with the SERIES, I watched the Spring Special and the Winter Special first, which had me confused over who was who and what the heck was going on. However, Su's character stood out for me from the very beginning because I have an affinity for energetic characters who have cute voices and adorable expressions. Su is the master of all three of these qualities!
I also have a penchant for characters who are loud, brash, energetic, and fun, all the time hiding some sort of unhappiness they have no control over. Another tick for Su, who fit right into this category. Although her story is perhaps not as touching as, say,
Souma Momiji, it's still something which obviously affects her life in a way that could force her into a passive position. Instead, she moved on (ran away... same difference!) and continued to try to live out her care-free life and do what she felt was right for her.
That and she's just really darn cute. Infectious, really. How can you not like Su? And that's a rhetorical question, so please don't answer that.
Long story short, I just really like her character, okay?
